What is the long service levy?
The Building and Construction Industry Long Service Levy is 0.25% of the estimated cost of building and construction work where the cost is $250,000 and above (incl GST). It is payable before work starts and is collected by the Long Service Corporation under the Building and Construction Industry Long Service Payments Act 1986 (NSW).
Do all councils charge the same DA fee?
The statutory bands under Schedule 4 of the EP&A Regulation 2021 are the same across NSW, but councils can adopt their own fees within the regulated limits. Some councils charge below the maximum, and most add local service fees. Check your council's current fees and charges schedule.
